On October 9, 2024, CJ Jones became the assistant coach for the Carolina Astros. With a wealth of experience in basketball, Jones began his coaching journey at Carolina Christian College in Winston Salem in 2018. Following that, from October 2022 to August 2022, he served as the head coach at Lexington High School. Jones then continued his coaching career at High Point University.
Head coach and owner Willie Johnson has made history by signing the Carolina Astros to the I.E.B.L basketball league for the very first time. Johnson expressed his overwhelming emotions, saying, "I'm incredibly humble. Tears filled my eyes as I put pen to paper. To think about where I started as a young basketball enthusiast and now being able to sign my inaugural basketball team to a league is simply everything to me! God works wonders and rewards those who believe in Him throughout the journey."
